(8T TELEGRAPH.—PItESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHRRCH, 7th September.

After a four days' hearing in the Christchurch Supreme Court, the case' in which David John Miller, a wharf labourer, of Lyttclton, claimed from the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand the eiim of £2500 as general damages, and £52 10s .as special damages and hospital expenses to the date of the issue of the writ for injuries received as the result of an accident sustained on the steamship Tarawera at Lyttelton on the night of 17th January last, was concluded yesterday, afternoon. The jury returned a verdict for the full amount "claimed, but judgment was not entered tip pending argument of important legal points raised.
