PLUMBERS & ENLISTMENT
TO IHB EDITOR.
Sir,- —If I may again encroach on your columns, I can prove to "Unskilled" that I did not: approach this subject as an armchair critic. I know all master plumbers are not larding the lean earth as he depicts one. Why should they ? As to the shortage of material, even a skilled plumber must cease work when, his material ends. In face of the general shortage of labour all branches of our industries, are feeling, why this tempest re plumbers? We all know, that to drive a coffe-pot sized engine in this country the driver, like licensed plum< bers, holds a certificate. My reason, sir. for writing was that I regarded.much of Mr. Sheil's letter as mere nonsense, and much of " Unskilled'?" can ba classed the same. If there is any public danger of an epidemic, as depicted by Mr. Sheil, does he intend to report to the council? If pnly a little of it is true, I am willing to work tt wages to be arranged every Saturday afternoon, if necessary every Sunday, as long as the war lasts; my wages to go to the 'war funds. Mr. Sheil and " Unskilled" will surely be the Kitchener to overseer ' the unskilled efforts of . ARTHUR COX. 3rd September.
