.The result of., the „ 10th. ballot taken under the Military Service Act from among members of the First Division of •the Expeditionary Force Reserve for filling vacancies in the. 34th and 35th Reinforcements, mobilising one month and two months hence respectively, was issued in the form of a Gazette Extraordinary to-day, TBe vacancies have been caused by the failure of voluntary recruiting to produce the number of men required, the shortage for the 34ths being 1524, and forthe"3sths 2207. . To meet the combined, shortage of 3731 a total of 15,000 men, have been, called up. The First Division, which orignally comprised 84,986 men, has-also been considerably depleted by voluntary enlistment, and at the conclusion of the 10th ballot it was estimated that there were only about 8000 remaining, who will all | bo drawn in the 11th ballot to be taken this month. The 11th ballot will thus exhaust the First Division. The combing ont of the medical rejects and revision of the exemptions is now being commenced. When this is 'sufficiently far. advanced the Second Division will be, drawn on in order of classes.
