A SYRIAN'S APPEAL

DUNEDIN, 29th August. During tho hearing of the appeal of a Syrian before tho Military Service Board to-day, appellant's counsel said appellant considered the fact, of the Syrians fighting for the Allies becoming known in Turkey would lead to a massacre of Syrians in Lebanon, whero the relatives of appellant now resided. He said the Syrians were loyal people, and strongly favoured the Allies, and thought their misgivings should be respected. The appeal was dismissed, with a recommendation that serious consideration, be giron to tho fact that tho reservist was a Syrian, and that as a question of policy, it might bo considered wheth'r it would be jwise to -send a member of that r»ce to tne <front..
