LABOUR DEMONSTRATION
The-Trades Council has considered a proposal -by. the Seamen^s, Union, that the Labour Day celebration this year should .take the form of a demonstration against the cost of living and-repressive legislation, "followed by a procession 'fo place .'resolutions on these . questions/ be.fore Parliament. The council decided to reply that it had already been- decided to hold a sport« gathering on the same lines, as last year, and for this reason, and in view of the fact that Parliament would not be sitting on Labour Day, an alteration in the arrangements could not be made. The council would, however, be willing to co-operate with the Seamen's Union in organising a demonstration to take place before Labour Day.- ..- -■ • . ■ ■ ■ • ■-'
