A VERY COLD NIGHT
A westerly depression of moderate intensity passed over the Dominion during the week-end, and was responsible for unsettled conditions, with rain generally and snow on the higher levels in the South. Strong west to south-west winds have prevailed.
At Wellington the total rainfall for the 48 hours was 0.62 inches, which mostly fell between 9.30 on Saturday night and 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. Sunday proved extremely cold, and during Sunday night nearly 7 degrees of frost were recorded at the Observatory.
The forecast is for moderate to strong southerly winds, and cool and changeable weather, with scattered showers. A very cold night is probable generally.
