PEACE WITHOUT ANNEXATION
LEAGUE OF NATIONS FAVOURED,
(Received August 27, 8.30 a.m.)
LONDON, 26th August.
The British Socialist Party has prepared a statement for submission to the Inter-Allied Socialist Conference next week. ■
It calls on the workers to intervene and bring tlio war to a speedy conclusion; to utilise the economic and .political situation to bring about a transition from capitalism to co-operation; to demand peace without annexation or indemnity ; that reparation be made from a, common fund under international control to which all belligerents should contribute.
The manifesto also declares that the restoration of Belgium is essential to peace; that Alsace-Lorraine should determine its own Government, and also Poland and Armenia, while the Balkans should form a confederation. ' Turkey should have Mesopotamia-, and Germany ehould regain her colonies':
The manifesto opposes economic interference with German trade, and declares hostility to tariff barriers. It favours a League of Nations to determine disputes.
