SEATOUN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The annual congregational meeting of the Seatoim Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday evening, the Rev. Wm. Shii-er in the chair. The attendance was smaller than usual, owing to the stormy weather. Mr. Rountree presented tdie balance-sheet, which showed a total expenditure of £'135 for the year. . The ordinary income had. increased, and this account closed* with » credit balance of £11, after meeting an increased expenditure of £15. Over £60 had been spent on building to/Tit the church, for use as a temporary public school, and more than half of the ecu* 'had been found from rent. The Rev. R. Wood reported an increase in attendance at worship and at communion,, and a marked increase in Sunday school, conducted by Mts. Rowntree. It was reported that a member of the committee had gone to the war, and the meeting elected two additional members of committee. It was reported that the Island Bay branch of the congregation had: an income on its ordinary account of £174, and closed wjfth a credit balance of £9, after making an increased expenditure of £40. There were ' credit balances at Island Bay on Manse Building, Fund of £100 and on Olmrch Building Fund of £174, and a site had been paid for at £100. It was agreed specially to thank the treasurer, Sunday school workers, and organist for their services.

It was stated by the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, in Me House of Rspresentatives yesterday, that the women who clean Parliament Buildings received Sss a wetk, for about two and a-half hours a day. A/widow with a family received a bonus of £16, and o. widow without a family received £7 10s.
