COLD WEATHER EXPECTED

The storm area which prevailed during the past week has had its worst effect in other parts of the Dominion, more especially in the North. The barometer rose everywhere on Thursday night, but fell again in the South last evening. Scattered rain has fallen in many districte. A ;westerly squally area is now du.e, with winds strong to gale, probably backing- to southerly in a short time. Colder weather will probably follow, with snow on fc'he higher lev-els. The barometer will probably fall temporarily and rise again soon.. Heavy seas are expected on all the weetc-m coasts and between Castlepoint and Kaikoura, with rough off-shore seas elsewhere.
