ALL WHO CAN MUST CONTRIBUTE
Sir Joseph Ward referred to the loan in the House of Representatives yesterday. There had been, he said, no dissentient voice raised in Parliament during discussion of (he Budget in regard to the additional taxation to be imposed' on wealthy people who had failed to Subscribe to the war loan. He must ask hon. members to wait till they saw-the Tax Bill for particulars of the proposals^ It^vas'absc-lutely^riecessary to. have soma legislation of the kind to ensure-- thatthose who could but would not should, contribute their fair share to the" cost of the war. No exception had been taken to the Inscribed Stock Bill and to setting aside a, portion of the loan for the payment of death duties, except to ask for tho increa-se of the latter.
