SQUEEZING HOLLAND
GERMAN RESTRICTIONS ON STEEL
SUPPLY.
WASHINGTON, 23rd August. The State. Department has been informed that Germany has threatened not to give Holland any more steel for ship construction unless Holland will agree that the ships constructed from it will be used in the interests of Germany for the duration of the war and five years thereafter. Germany has also informed Holland that she must send miners to Germany if she desires more than a certain allotment of coal.
It is understood that Germany is using the same tactics.towards Denmark.
