Aeroplanes, with incendiary bombs, set fire to three French hospitals full of wounded, and turned their machine-guns on the medical staff when rescuing the
patients.
The victims include seven medical men. Seven wounded men were killed and thirty-three injured.
A Red Cross nurse and a male nurse wero also killed.
There was no panic. The wounded who were able to walk were assisted by comrades.
Although the Red Crosses on the roofs of the hospitals wero plainly visible in the glare of the burning buildings, the Germans returned and bombarded the hospitals a third time.
