A public meeEing of Petone citizens •was held last-evening, presided over by the Mayor, Mr. J. W. M'Ewan, to 'arrange for, celebrating Labour Day in Petone. It was decided to arrange for a carnival on the same lines us in previous yeais; and it was further suggested that children's competitions be hold in-the way of musical and elecutionary items in ihe evening.
