PETONE LABOUR DAY CARMVAL
A public meeEing of Petone citizens •was held last-evening, presided over by the Mayor, Mr. J. W. M'Ewan, to 'arrange for, celebrating Labour Day in Petone. It was decided to arrange for a carnival on the same lines us in previous yeais; and it was further suggested that children's competitions be hold in-the way of musical and elecutionary items in ihe evening. ' '"'. The following general committee was set up:,—Messrs,., J. W. -M'Ewan -(chairman)^ 0. "Sil.beiy- (hon. W. B* "Mcholson (Hon." treasurer,)," Whita'ke'r,,'.."Churchouse',. Money, F. Clark,..W. Clark, W. Cload," Schoneld, Cox;"Pointon, Alty, Ken 1, Gough, Collins, Pawson, and Mesdames Bennett and Collett.
It was decided to donate the proceeds to the motor ambulance fund.
