TAX ON TEA
"I <to take exception to tfce tex <*» tea," remarked Mr. G. R. Sykes in Parliament when the Budget was being discussed yesterday. The meaiber for Mastertoii added that tea, fccom his viewpoint, was essential to (fee working man, aad could not in any way be termed a luxury. The cost of living was too high, and any endeavour to increase it he objected to. He was of opinion that a higher taxation on liquor—2os instead of 18s per gallon on spirits, for instance —would be a better method of raasing the necessary revenue.
