HARBOUR BOARD EMPLOYEES

A meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board Permanent Employees' Association was held last evening to consider tho amended agreement of service to replaco one which has been in operation for about thirty years. Mr. Rossiter presided: Much dissatisfaction -was expressed at .the entire absence of any of the real terms of service under which the staff is engaged, and tho lack of any satisfactory safeguard by way of a properly constituted appeal board against unfair dismissals or promotions. . The following motion was carried: "That this meeting of tho Wellington Harbour Board's Permanent Employees' Association considers the amended agreement of service submitted by the board is not satisfactory to_ the employees." Several matters of administrative detail affecting the welfare of tho staff were reported as having been satisfactorily dealt with by tho chief wharfinger.
