KHANDALLAH BUSH

A remnant of native bush aitill exists to adorn the slopes of Kaukau. The Onslow Borough Council of some years ago planted several thousand pine trees on the ridges to protect, and shelter the native growth, and enhance it-ho property as a catchment area, as well as to add to the beauty of the landscape. The bush is now said to be threatened by the action of the borough council in calling for tenders for the renting of the area for grazing by sheep,. and a deputation of residents of Khandallah will wait on the council to-morrow evening, at 8.30 o'clock, to protect against the proposed Idtting, and to draw attention to the advisabflitT of protecting and conserving the bush and plantations.
