TEPID BATHS

Financial assistance for tho Tepid Baths at the Boys' Institute was requested by a deputation comprising Messrs. G. Troup, T. Shields, Loin. Walker, and F. Ross, which waited upon tile Baths, Libraries, and Beaches Committee of the City Council. Mr. Troup said that tho returns from the baths had gone from bad to worse during the war period. The institute was prepared to devote £200 towards the upkeep, but did not anticipate that the loss would be a recurring one. Expenses had now been cut down to bedrock. The committee promised consideration of the request, and in the meantime a balance-sheet showing the position of the undertaking is to be submitted by the institute.
