GERMAN U-BOAT ACTIVE,

BALTIMORE, 14th August. 'Armed American ships at-Santa Marie, in the Azores, recently repelled an attack by a large submarine which appeared outside the breakwater, and shelled the city. Later, the raider sank seven fishing boats a hundred milee off the coast.
