CHRISTCHURCH, 15th August.

The New Zealand Metropolitan- Trotting Club's August Meeting opened today in glorious weather, and before a very large attendance. The amount passed through the totalisator was £28,308, as against £26,770 last year. Balance of results :—

Stewards' Handicap, of 175 soys; two miles.—l 3 Hardy Wilkes, lsec, 1; 8 Lady Wilmington, Bsec, 2; 12 Theseus, 14sec, 3. Won by three lengths. Time, 4min 49 1-fcec.

International Handicap, of 200 soys; one mile and a quarter.—7 St. Ursula-, 6sec, 1; 1 Sungod, 6sec, 2; 3 Frandocia, Ssec, 3. Won by four lengths. " Time, 2min 56 l-ssec.

Speedway Handicap, of ISO soys; one mile.—3 Sir Fulham, 3sec, 1; 10 St. Michael, 4sec, 2; 7 Prince Poole, 3sec, 3. Won by a length. Time, 2mm 23 4-ssec.

Electric Handicap, of 150 soys; one mile.—l Huia Grey. 9sec, 1; 5 Winston M., 9sec, 2; 3 Willie Lincoln, Bsec, 3. Won by a -head. Time, 2min 18sec.
