The attention of the public k drawn to a free lecture, illustrated with lantern slides, which will ..be.-given by Mr. Lawrence. Birks, B.Sc. M.1.C.E., Assistant Government Electrical Engineer,' at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall to-night. Mr. Birks will speak on the development of hydro-electric power in Canterbury, with particular reference to the Lake Coleridge installation, .md.to the demand for power from freezing works, flour mills, butter factories, hospitals, and other institutions, ,-and the extensive use to which electrical power has been-applied for-domestic, .purposes. Mr. JSirks i 6 not only an electrical expert, but is a very interesting lecturer.
