A SALUTARY CHANGE
NEW ATTITUDE OF SOCIALISTS
LONDON, 13th August. The Daily Chronicle's Petrograd correspondent reports a significant change in the attitude of the Workmen's and Soldiers' Council, which formerly demanded the Stockholm Conference and peace without annexations or indemftitj, insisting that Russian blood must not be shed for furthering the Western Allies' Imperialistic aims. The Council, realising now that Russian freedom is •ndangered, is endeavouring to re-establish the fighting power of the army, s; Issuing appeals, articles, 'speeches, and resolutions, declaring that this w now the supreme question. The Council has summoned a_ conference of trade unions and military and naval organisations, with a view to mobilising the whole of the forces of the democracy to repel the invasion and increase recruiting, subscriptions to the Liberty Loan, the output of munitions, and food supplies. , '
