LONDON, 4th May.

Lieut-Colonel M. M. Gardner, R.N.Z.A., is to be D.A.Q.M G., Second Anzao Corps, in the place of Major J. D Grant, V.C., of the Bth Gurkha Rifles. Lieut.-Colonel N. S. Falla, D.5.0., succeeds Lieut.-Colonel Gardner.

Major N. W. B. B, Thorns, M.C., N.Z.S.C. (Brigade-Major 3rdN.Z. Rifles), is now to be brigade-major Ist N. Z. Infantry Brigade, taking the place of Captain T. B. Jackson. The latter is not now on the strength of the N.Z.E.F., being now on the general list. The place of Major Thorns, 3rd N.Z. Rifles, is to be filled by Captain B. G. Purdy, N.Z:S.C., and Captain G. C. Dailey, Canterbury Regiment, is to be staff-captain and succeed Captain Purdy. Captain T. R. Eastwood, M.C., Rifle Brigade, holds the rank of major 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade. Captain A. S. Falconer, M.C., has been taking a staff course, and meanwhile his duties as staff-captain Ist N.Z. Infantry Brigade were performed by Captain R. W. Wrightson, Wellington Regiment. Captain W. D. Ruddock, Captain J. Evans, and 2nd litnt. A. H. Grierson, of the Auckland M.R., have been transferred to the Auckland Regiment. 2nd Lieut. W. I/. C. M'Lean has been transferred from the Wellington Regiment to the N.Z. Cyclist Corps. Transfers to the N.Z. Engineers, Field Companies, have included: Lieut. A. W. Thomas, from the Wellington Regiment; 2nd Lieut. T. D. Barker, N.Z.R.B.

Major A. G. M'Kenzie, D.5.0., succeeds Lieut.-Colonel S. S. Allen as second in command of a battalion, and Major E. H. Orr replaces Lieut. -Colonel B. C. Allen in a similar capacity; the predecessor in each case now commands a .battalion. Major W. o.'. Sinel is another second in command of a battalion, to complete establishment. Transfers from the N.Z.R.B. to the Canterbury Regiment, of recent date, have been: Lieut. H. W. Kennedy, 2nd Lieut. J. G. C. Wales, 2nd Lieut. M. J. Scott, 2nd Lieut. J. K. Moloney, and 2nd Lieut. C. Quartley, from the C.M.R-. Transfers to the Ofcago Regiment from the N.Z.R.B. have been : Capt. K. S. Caldwell, Lieut. F. R. K. Waring, 2nd Lieut. N. H. Arden, 2nd Lieut. M. Ix Rohan, 2nd Lieut. H. S. Kenrick, 2nu Lieut. P. F. Armstrong, 2nd Lieut. L. M. Fairbrother, Lieut. 0. M.. Little John (from Auckland Regiment), and 2nd Lieut. K. J. M'Kenzie, from the C.M.R, Majors J. B. M'Clymont, J. M'Crae, and j. Hargest, M.C., all of the Otago Regiment, have been appointed seconds in command of battalions. : Captain W H. S. Widdowson, M.C., is to command 4th N.Z. Infantry Brigade Light Trench Morfcar Battery. . Major I). Colquhoun (Obago Regiment) has been promoted, and Captain S. Rice, with the rank of major > takes his place. Majors H. HoHerness, C. H. Captain A. E. M. Jones and 2nd Lieut. P.R. Dardner, both of the N.Z. Pioneei Battalion, have been transferred—the former to the Wellington Regiment, the latter to the Auckland Regiment. _ Lieutenant H. H, Hayhurst and Lieutenant C. S. Bold, R.N.R., who is in .the ——. He was wounded in Gallipoli and transferred to the sea later. Lieut. Bold was formerly with the U.S.S. Co.. ■ ■'■ Lieut. P. A. Elworthy,' Household Cavalry (Christchurch), son-in-law of Bishop Julius, has relinquished his commission on account of ill health. Iln has been granted the hon. rank of lieutenant. ' Lieut. K. L. CaldWell, R.F.C.. has been promoted captain. He was one of the earliest aviation students at Anckland.

; An old Dunedin boy, Lieut. H. G. Bateraan, R;G.A., has been on a few days' leave from the front sinco the Battle of Arras. Lieut. Bateman has for some time been on the staff of » general of' artillery, and has jast been gazetted to the new post of staff-lieu-tenant. Ha received his early training in the Dunedin naval artillery. Lieut. Bateman was surveying in New Zealand for some time before leaving for Australia to study medicine at Angas College," Adelaide, for the China mission field. He was for some time in China, and came to England at the beginning of last year to offer his services. Ho was for a good while instructing in England before going to the front, where he has had an exceptionally useful experience. Lieut. Bateman speaks very optimistically of the present superiority of the British artillery and the general feeling of confidence. Incidentally, he has heard excellent reports of the work of the New Zealand Tunnelling Company, which has been attached J to different British corps. Mr. Edgar Garland (Wellington), who passed his preliminary aviation test* at the Auckland school, and came to England a few months ago, has received his commission in the Royal Flying Corps. Royal Flying Corps with a commission, and Trooper M. R. Farrer, Mounted M.G.S., 13/1023, has a commission in the Imperial Army. Spr. R. S. Renfrew, N.Z.E., 4/1027, has been discharged here as medically unfit.

2nd Lieut. R. Sefton Adams, R.F.A. (Wellington), now holds the rank of. captain. , Major W. J. Shannon, D.5.0., Lancers, has been oromoted to Lieut.-Colonel. Lieut. L. Guliiver-Cradwick, Ist Essex Regiment, is attached to the Royal Flying Corps He is stationed at present in Norfolk.

Lieut. P. G. M'Evedy, N.Z.M.C., has made a good recovery from the operation on the appendix, and is now convalescing at, Brighton. ' : Mr. H. Howell, who ha 6 attested here, has been drafted to Infantry, with the No. 37201.

The Rev. H. C. Money, Avonside, is now.a chaplain of the 4th Class, N.Z.E.F. Captain M. a'B. M'Ca-rthy, R.A.M.C. (Greytown), who has been on service for almost two years, is attached to the Queen Alexander Hospital at Millbank.
