"Married to the Wrong Man' was produced by the Brandon-Cremer Dramatic Company at the Grand Opera House on Saturday evening, before a large audience The play is a story of virtue triumphant and villainy defeated. It tells how two men seek the hand of the same girl, Ruth Carlton. One is Captain Herbert Deer ing, who is' not a. perfect gentleman by any means, and the other is Private Gladwin, belonging to the same'regiment as Dee Hug Ruth is the ward of a bold, bad innkeeper, and thinks that she is his daughter He is under the impression that she ie the possessor of wealth, and conspires to wed her to Captain Deering, who is also bad and bold like himself. Then events happen very rapidly. The captain is the first to marry the girl, but is disappointed to find that she is not an heiress at all He makes a bargain with Private Glad win, who pays cash down for the girl. As both Captain Deering and Private Gladwin have deserted from their regiment there are many complications. As the play progresses Ruth is struck dumb ; there is a murder and a sensational trial at New Bailey. As the arch-villain, Herbert Deering, Mr. Edgar Kenna is very successful, as is Mr. Maurice Tuohy in the role of Jack Gladwin. Miss Mabel Hardinge makes a pretty heroine, and the other characters are well sustained. ■ . The play will be repeated this evening.
