COLOURED CONTINGENTS
QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT.
(RBUIER'S TELEGRAM.)
LONDON, 7th June. In the House of Commons, Mr. Stanton (Independent La'oour) asked .why hundreds and thousands of coloured members of the Empire, who were ready and willing to'go''to ■ the front, were not used.
Mr. J. I. Macpherson (Under-Secre-tary for War) replied that the means of utilising to .the best advantage the services of the coloured peoples had been thoroughly investigated. Coloured contingents already were rendering useful service in several spheres of the war, and arrangements were in hand both for reinforcing the existing contingents and forming new ones.
