The Public Health Committee reported to the council last night,the request of the Wellington Dairy Fanners' Cooperative Association, Ltd., that the council should assist it in the following matters :— (1) That the council arrange to assist the farmers in endeavouring to obtain better facilities for the transit of milk into the city, more particularly from the Wairarapa line; (2) that the council co-operate in the erection of a building at the Thorndon Railway Station for the reception and handling of milk and the cleansing of cans as a temporary expedient until the erection of a. municipal milk clearing house; (3) that the council 'assist the association in the direction of preventing milk cans being lost or mislaid. The committee recommended that the association be informed that, after careful consideration, the council prefers to allow the questions to stand over until the appointment of a milk expert is made. Councillor J. Castle stated that the committee had also received a strong request from the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants for the improvement of the milk supply service. Some days ago the members of the committee visited the railway station and watched the unloading of the milk.
