MORE RAIN TO-DAY
MUCH COLDER WEATHER COMING.
The weather prospects at daybreak this morning gave ample grounds for the hope that to-day from a meteorological standpoint would-prove as pleasant as yesterday, but this optimistic view received a shock later in the morning, ( Up till about 10, o'clock weather' conditions- were all that could be desired—a crisp atrriosphere, bright sunshine, and clear skies. After a few short hours of this,--however, the skies clouded over, and an icy-cold blast straight from-the Frozen South began to be'felt. At noon there was a sharp-heavy shower, and rain has fallen' intermittently most of the afternoon. Westerly winds have" now changed to south and squally weather with heavy showers is probable generally. ' Sleet is expected in the South with snow on the higher levels arid much.colder conditions are likely to follow: ; Southerly; winds strong to gale are forecasted, and a rising barometer-may be looked for everywhere.
