LAND SETTLEMENT
IN THE EANGITIKEI DISTBICTT
All the members of the Land Board, including the Commissioner of Crown Lands, met the Fairfield, Makowai, and Greyetone settlers recently to discusi with them certain subjects relating to land settlement in the districts.
The matter of the acquisition of etock was brought up by the settlers, and the board decided that, when stock was being bought with advances from the Government, it was not in the interests of the settlers, more especially the- inexperienced ones, to allow them to buy etock at the various saleyards.
It was pointed out that the various patriotic societies would be only top pleased to advise them as to the purchase of stock? and it was. decided that Mr. Smith, Crown lands ranger, should obtain fnyn the various settlers their stock requirements and consult with the Bulls Patriotic Society as to the purchase. •'.' ■ : '-.' ....'• '"'■..■'
