RUSSIAN MUSICIANS.
Music-lovers all over the Dominion are delighted at the prospect of again hearing Leo, Jan, and Mischel Cherniavsky. Their first concert here will be given at the Town Hall to-morrow night, when the programme will start with the famous Arensky trio. Speaking of their performance of this in America, the Musical Courier says :—
"From the first few notes, it was evident that the Cherniavskys are endowed with fine technical skill, uncommon understanding of tone, and overpowering vitality and temperamental impetus. The Russian music offers splendid opportunities for the revealment of those qualities, and during every moment the players held the absorbed attention of their listeners to an intense degree." Three other trios will be rendered, namely Glivkais "Russian Romance," Arcnsky's "Serenade," Dvorak's "Slav Dance." Mr. Leo Cherniaygky will pla.y Ernst's Violin Concerto in F sharp minor. Solo work by Mr. Jan Cherniavsky will include two of Chopin's Preludes, Nos. 15 and 24/ and the "Scerzo in B flat minor," whilst Mr. Mischel Cherniavsky will give Schumann's "Evening Song," Herbert's "Serenade," and Popper's "Tarantello." Mr. Alex. Czerny will act as accompanist.
