ACCLIMATISATION MATTERS

Various matters concerning the r-por of rod and gun were dealt with at meeting of the committee of the" We] lington Acclimatisation Society las evening. Mr. L. O. H. Tripp occupies the chair.
The Department of Internal Affair! wrote stating that the Society's applied tion for 150,000 rainbow trout eyed ova for the 1917 season, had been sent tl the conservator of fish and game a| Rotorua. I
It was notified by the Palmersto: North branch that Mr. C. H. White head had been appointed its delegate t the Society. A copy of the following resolutio recently passed by the Wairarapa Sout branch was received: "That seeingtha perch are on the increase the season fo a perch fishing' season be opened im mediately on the same terms as las : season." It -was explained that this, rt ferred particularly ito the Tauhertnika and adjoining lagoons, and the objec was as much to keep down the perc as to .provide sport. Members wer favourable to the application, and. i was pointed but that perch fishing- ira excellent sport. The application wa granted, and it was decided to advertis the opening of the season. This was als made to apply (to the Waiwetu stream where perch are reported to be plent: ful. The Hawl/e's Bay Acclimatisatio : Society^ sought information as to wher Virginian quail could be procured. I' was stated that this species was estal lished in iihe Wairoa district, under th control of Eotorua. The Society was un able to supply the information.
It -was decided to hold the annual meeting of the Society in the Chambej of Commerce on Wednesday, 30t| instant. I
