CUSTOMS RETURNS
RECEIVED DURING APRIL.
During the past month Customs duties amounting to £68,173 2s 8d were collected at Wellington, as compared with £72,687 2s 8d for April, 1916 —a decrease of about £4500., Ip the beer duty there is similarly a considerable decrease, the figures for last month being £1798 4s 3d, and for April last, year £1909 2s lOd. Very, little gold or silver was exported during the month. For the four months completed this yeal. 1 the Customs duties amounted to £349,098 0s od, and the beer duty £7777 7s 4d, as compared with' £356,055 13s 4d, and £7981 3s lOd for tho first quarter in 1916.
