PRISONERS OF WAR

NEW ZEALANDERS IN GERMANY

LONDON, 27th February

The name of a New Zealand prisoner of war, serving ■with the Australian Forces, has recently come to the knowledge of the New Zealand Prisoners oi War Department. He is 3513 Bte. Frank Herbert Wood. 12tli Battery, Machine Gun Corps, Australian Forces. Hs is a prisoner at Dulmen. He was captured at Pozieres in August last, and the next-of-kin is bis sister, Mrs. W. ' Williams, Stratford, New Zealand. Communications have been received from the following prisoners in Turkey: 10/H55 Pie. J. P. Coulter and 10/1230 Cpl. F. J. Earles (at Bilemedik), also 8/1114 L.-Cp}. John Forrester and 10/458 Pte. C. F. Monk {at Afion-Kara-Hissar). The parcels to the New Zealand prisoners in Turkey are now beginning to reach them, Forrester having received two and Monk having acknowledged no fewer than seven, on the post-card received from him. Nearly all the Christmas parcels sent to Germany by the New Zealand Prisoners Department have now been acknowledged. The new regulations of the Central Prisoners of War Committee provide that food parcels must now be sent to civilian prisoners of war individually; so the supplies formerly sent to Mr. Tom Sullivan, as socrefary of the Australasian Committee at Ruhleben, have been stopped. Each civilian now i<eceives a weekly parcel direct from London, and also bread from Switzerland. LIST OF PRISONERS. The following is a list of New Zealanders so far as is known who are prisoners of war in Germany. Every address must begin with the words "British Prisoner of War," and the following words must be inserted immediately after the unit to which, the prisoner belongs : — " New Zealand E.F., " Kriegsgefangenenlager."
