LONDON, 27th April. . Mr; " Kellaway, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Munitions, in moving the second reading of the Munitions Bill, dealing with vages, the settlement of disputes, and other matters, said that the expenditure of shells over six inches in the first week of the recent offensive was double the expenditure during the Battle of the Somme, and the second week's expenditure was 6£ (? 2'i) times that during the Somme Battle. Another marked difference was that expenditure in shells in the first week on the Somme was greater than in the whole of the rest of the offensive, but in the recent offensive we were able to expend 28 per cent, more ammunition in the.second week than in the first.
