Between 11 and 12 o'clock on Wednesday night some person or persons possessing more than the usual impudence visited a motor garage in Ghuznee-street, and barrowed a. motor-car on the principle which any moneylender would scorn to entertain. Having secured the) car, the thieves apparently set off on a joy ride. The run must havo ended disastrously, however, for the car was found the following morning in Happy Valley, upside down. The matter is in tho hands of the police. The point as to whether holders of scholarships should be allowed to earn outside emoluments was discussed at the meeting of the Wellington College Board of Governors to-day. It was stated that two holders of special scholarships were earning money outside. One speaker mentioned that perhaps if some of tho holders of scholarships were not allowed ' to do this, they would be unable to take advantage of the honour they had won. Eventually, it was decided to allow successful candidates to take employment outside, provided they obtained the" board's permission.
