LODGE MEETINGS

At the fortnightly meeting of the Excelsior Lodge of Druids, the Arch Druid, Bra. R. Parkin, presided. Sick pay and- accounts were passed for payment, and the lodge adjourned till Monody, 7th May, at 7.30 p.m. After the lodge •closed a most successful "Ladies' Evening"' was held. Tho lodge room was packed to overflowing with members, their wives, ahd lady friends, and a very large number of visitors frotn other lodges. Bro. W. M'Laughlin provided' a capital entertainment in the form of a vocal circle by the "Excelsior Songbirds." The vocal items were;—Openjng chorus? "Jingle Bells,'' by the company ; "Gwievieve," by Bro. O. D. Hargreaves; "Everybody's Doin 1 it," by Bro. H. Austin ("bones"); "Keep the Hplne Fires Burning," by Miss Mavis Kingj "Private Michael Cassiay," by Mn&ter Winston M'Carthy; ''There's a Long, Long Trail/ ,by Miss Olivo M'Laughlin ; "The Lads in Navy Blue," by Bro. N. J. Edmonds; "Piney Ridge," by Bto. H. D. M'Carthy • and .''Alexander's Ragtime Band," by Bro. J. B. OaurrtJerfc ("tambo"). All the items were well givrti «nd earned tlie hearty applause of the audience, who joined in the vjrious Wiomses. A line little orchestra. Composed of violins (Miss M. M'LaughUrt. ahrj Mr. A. Brunette), flute - (2>li\ Alf. M'DrniiLlrt), clarinet (Jiro. V. G. Harlent. cornet (Bro. K. Evaiw), trombone (Bro. F l. Bedell], di-tims (Mr. JJaysh), nncl piano (Bro. IS. J. King), assisted in all Uie accompaniments besides contributing a number of instrumental iteihs.. After tho concert refreshments were handed round. Bro. A. Tyson is to be complimfntod on the capable manner, in which he and lii& slaff of helpers catered for the comfort of the visitors.. The proceedings concluded with a few impromptu dances and the National Anthem.
