AUCKLAND, 21st, April. On the opening day of the Auckland Trotting Club's Meeting, the totalisator put through £15,104, against £12,157 last year. ; Balance of results :—. '
Campbell Handicap, two miles.—3 Jolly Girl, 'limit, 1; 4 Harold Junior, 12yds behind, 2; 5 Steel Bell, 108 yds behind, 3. Eleven started. A great race. Won by a head, with three lengths between second, and third. Time, 4mm 41 l-ssec. A protest was entered against, the winner for boring, but was dismissed.
Easter Handicap, two miles.—3 Willo' the Wisp, 48yds behind, 1; 10 Skylark, 36yds behind, 2; 7 Hova, 72yds behind, 3. i Fourteen started. Won by one length and a-half, with twenty lengths between second and third. Time, 4min 51 4-ssec.
Hobson Handicap, one mile and ahalf.—2 Lieutenant, 34yds behind, 1; 1 Olive Palm, limit, 2; 5 Kempsey, limit, 3. Eight started. Won by lengths, with six lengths between second and third. Time, 3min 30 4-ssec.
Stewards' Handicap' Trot, one mile and a-half.—B Auckland Girl, 108 yds behind. 1; 1 Billy Parole, 46yds behind, 2; 9 Lady Wilmington, 120 yds behind, 3. Ten started. Won by a length, with five lengths between second and third. Time, 3min 34sec.
Cornwall Handicap, one mile.—2 Steel Bell, 36yde behind, 1; 1 Derby Dillon, limit, 2; 7 Prince Rufus, 12yds behind, 3. Seven started. Won by a length, with three lengths between second and third. Time, 2min 15 l-ssec.
