LODGE MEETINGS

The last meeting of the Island BayLodge, U.A.0.D., was a most auspicious one, i.he occasion being the installation of District President Bro. J. Durrarit. -The lodge was honoured by the atendauco of the Grand Vice-President (Bro. Flanagan), various Past District Presidents, and officers and members of Melrose, Coronation, Pacific, Excelsior, and Poneke Lodges. The installation ceremony was carried out by the retiring District President, Bro. ¥. Beor, asiated by P.D.P. Bro. S. L. Hall.; Eulogistic remarks w*ce^ made regarding thonew D.P., who was also the recipient of many congratulations and good wishes for a succesful term of office. Bro. Durrant, in responding, thanked thosa present for their kindly remarks; and stated that he felt proud to have at last achieved such a coveted and honoured position. It would be his endeavour to carry out his duties equally as well as his predecessors,, and he hoped that the district under his charge would progress, and maintain its present proud position. It was resolved that the meeting, being a representativß ono, of the No. 21 District, should place on racord its appreoiatio.n of P.D.P.'s (Bro. Beer) services, and that he should be presented with a P.D.P. collar and diploma. The motion was carried unanimously, with acclamation. The arrangements for the presentation, of same will be left in the hands of Coronation Lodge., During-the. evening, .the" Grand "Vice-President delivered a, miist eloquent addres, which was listened io with great interest, and there is no doubt that the Druids Order is fortunate in having suoh an able officer. Ec promised at a later date to deliver a lecture on Ancient Druidism to a combined meeting. Inoluded among tho toasts of th© evening were ""The Kins *nd the Druids," "Absent Brethren," and the "new D.P." Musical items were contributed, and refreshments served. Credit is due to the committee responsible for the social side of the evening.
