APPROVAL OF THE STRIKE
RESOLUTIONS BY UNIONS. I

WESTPORT, This Day. At the bajlot taken by the Westport General Labourers' Union it was decided by 98 votes to* 56 to support tho following" resolution : —
"That we members of ■ General Labourers' Union express our entire and wholeheaHed''syjnj>iiln'3 r with and approval of the coal miners' unions in the strike against the Conscription Act. We desire to enter an emphatic protest against the Act and call on the Government to .immediately repeal the same, and express sincere regret that the Government has ehown-eo Jittleicolislde'ra'liohVfor the impor.ta.nce o.f. national .unity in that it ever turned a deaf ear to organised labours' repeated protests against the \c\, and still further accentuated the hu .bio by the uncalled for severity of its dictatorship. - We-sincerely hope that the Government, will-endeavour, to alleviate the unrest &,nd prevent the further spread of industrial upheaval by immediately repealing the Act."
