The Auditor-General lias vyritten to the Waitara Harbour Board pointing; out that during.'the year ending 31st December last, payments for freight were made to I Messrs. Bayly, Ogle, and Co. of a total j of £141 10s 4d, and, as Mi 1. Ogle is a, member of the board, the payments contravene section 17 qf the Harbours Amendment Act, 1910; consequently it will be necessary for members to refund the money to tlie board .Should they fail to do so, measures .for recovery will be taken. The Auditor-General further points out that the transactions operate as a disqualification against Mr. Ogle as a member.. That applies, however, only to the now expiring term. Section 17, referred to, allows a member of a harbour'board to participate in.'a payment for work done or goods supplied to the amount of £25 for one transaction, or ,£SO total for a year. The money paid was -for freight on .timber brought from Wellington to Waitara by steamer. . : It is understood^ (says the Greymoufc 'Evening Star/that Mr. "J.
