IF HAMPERED BY LABOUR
TROUBLES
IMPORTANT NEW REGULATIONS,
On 16th February last regulations were gazetted providing- in effect that strikes or lock-outs that threaten to hamper the Government in the prosecution of the war shall be deemed to be "seditious." The regulations provided that "the Governor, if satisfied that any industry is essential for the public welfare may, by Order-in-Council, declare that industry to be an industry 'essential for the public welfare." By a Gazette Extraordinary issued this afternoon the following have been added to the list of "essential industries, in connection with which, under the War Regulations, a strike would .be "seditious" :— The, shipping industry.. . ■ The carnage of goods, merchandise, or passengers by land-or sea.' • The lading and unlading of ships. The frozen-meat industry. ■;'
