DRASTIC ALTERATIONS
IN UNION COMPANY'S SERVICES
'■ Yesterday it was announced in The Tost that, in consequence of the .West Coast coal strike, the Union Company had decided to withdraw the Mapourika irom the Wellingtori-Picton-Nelson-West iCoast service. It has since been found accessary to further curtail the service, fond before long it is quite probable that more drastic alterations will be anrno'nnced in the running of the Union iCdmpany's boats.
• This morning a Post reporter was inSformed at the local, office of the Union ."Company that it has been decided to .the Mararoa from the Lyfc-telton-Wellington ferry service, which, together -witih tbe Maori, she has carried <m for,many months past. Until something definite is arrived at, the Mararoa "will remain in Wellington. Her place an the ferry service will be taken this Evening by.a steamer which will leave 2v To. 6, Qoeen's Wharf at 7.45 o'clock for Lyttelton. ' It is quite "on the cards" that the Lyttelton-WeJKngton service Jwill have to .be .further curtailed if tho strike continues.
