London to the Commonwealth, has written a letter to the Daily News, in which. he states tfcat, ■ in view of the statement in the r newspaper that the neighbourhood of the railway stations, clubs, and hotels frequented by soldiers of tie overseas, forces were conspicuously disorderly," and that much drunkenness and immorality were observable, the : Commissioner of Police had made' searching enquiries, notonly, among the police, but among private persons who had special opportunities of observing street conditions. The High Commissioner had now received reports which showed that the, statements referred to were unjusti-. fiable exaggerations, and that there was no foundation in fact to support them-.
