GERMANS AS THICK AS PEAS
(ATJSTBALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)
LONDON, ISth April. Colonel Repington, The Times military expert, writes :—"The extent of the front,, the numbers engaged, and the armament and equipment for the new offensive surpass all records. General yon Hindenburg apparently thought that by withdrawing some ten miles and devastating the intervening space, hewould give the submarines time to harm us, and gaining further timo by further withdrawals. This might have succeeded had hs more accurately gauged 1 our offensive capabilities. "The transfer of German troops from Russia to France has begun. The Germans are already as thick as peas on the British front—indeed, thicker than anywhere else, numbering sixty divisions.
