MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Several week-end inebriates,' including two first offenders, appeared in the Magistrate's Court to-day before Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M. Those who had'previous convictiong against them were dealt' with 'as follow:—Albert \, Winn (a soldier), Thomas Francis Bourke, and M John Wynn were- each fined 20s/' with the alternative of serving seven days in gaol. Besides using the language complained of, Barnes made the rather sensational statement that he had killed a number o£ people in different parts of the world. Ho was fined 40s, with the alternative of remaining in gaol for 14 days. Patrick Kaiii aitd John Thorpe, who were 'chatgud with using obscene, language in CustomI house-quay and Cubiv-street respectively, wens also fined 40s, with the option of 14 days' imprisonment. For committing a breach of his prohibition order, John Hyde was fined 40s, with the option of 14 days' imprisonment. MAINTENANCE CASES. / Thomas Williams, in whose 1 case the arrears totalled £31, was ordered to Jiquidat* the amount by instalments of 5s a week, or serve 14 days' imprisonment. Hubert Broderick was ordered to pay £23 5t at tHe rate of 7s 6d a week, or remain fel gaol for 14 days.
