HEAVY BRITISH LOSSES CLAIMED
LONDON, 14th April.
' A German wireless official report states': There was a pause in the fighting yesterday north-eastward of Arras and the Scarpe. Further southward, at i Croisilles and Bullecourt, after a violent artillery fire, the British vainly attacked several times. Our after-thrust inflicted considerable losses. | Strong enemy attacks failed against our St. Quenthr positions. During th« j past week the heart of St. Quentin has been violently bombarded, and the Palace of Justice, the cathedral, and Town Hall seriously damaged. Our batteries are fighting at full strength at Soissons, Reims, and Western Champagne. The enemy lost on the West front on-Thursday eleven aeroplanes, and on Friday twenty-four. - _ LONDON, 15th April/ The German evening official report states that repeated strong British attacks between the Scarpe and Bullecourt failed, with heavy losses.' , CROWN PRINCE RESUMES HIS COMMAND (reuters teleoram.) , AMSTERDAM, 14th 'April. An official report from Berlin states that the rumours that the Kaiser is ill are unfounded. The Crown Prince has resumed his command of the central ' group of armies on the Western front. .
