ANTI-GOVERNMENT DEMONSTRATIONS
ACTION BY OPPOSITION LEADERS.
BERNE, 15th. April.
The prorogation of the Hungarian Parliament caused anti-Government demonstrAions in .Budapest.. The four Opposition leaders have sent a- joint Note to the Emperor Carl, pointing out that the popular discontent may result in dangerous consequences. The Burgomaster of Vienna, speaking at the City Council, amid applause, said that the Government and the people were at one in their desire for peace. He personally pleaded for a conference with the belligerents, "as soon as our enemies recognised our rights. We proffer the hand of peace."
