CHURCH OF ENGLAND AT UPPER HUTT
The annual meeting- of parishioners of the Upper Hutt Church of England, parochial district was held at Upper Hutt. The Vicar (Rev. A. D.. Stratford) occupied -the chiir, and presided over a good .attendance.' Ho nominated Mr. F. N. Connell as his warden, after expressing his thanks for, his past services. Tho meeting then elected^ Mr. J. Kemp as peoplo warden, and tne following vestrymen : Messrs. J.l Whiteman, H. M. Williams,.. PI. ,W. Chapman, H. J. Parker, C. H. Williams (Tiaitbke), and Norman Russell (Whitoman's Valley). The report and balance-sheet were presented by Mr. Connell, showing the parish to be solvent.' The Vicar then read a report on the past .year's work. Ho made special reference to tho sa,le of work in aid of a churchroom, for which £75 had been raised, and also to the presentation of several useful gifts to the churches' (particularly St. John's Trcntham) during, the past. year. A short report was read On the work of the. Sunday schools. Votes of thanks were heartily accorded to all the church workers. After tho meeting a, light suppor was sewed, which had been thoughtfully provided by the ladies of the parish.
