RESOLUTIONS BY WATER-

SIDERS

DOMINION BALLOT TO BE TAKEN

ON AGREEMENT.

. '£■ very largely-attended "stop-work" meeting of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union was held to-day, Mr. L. Glover presiding. The recent agreement arrived at by the representatives of the waterside- employers' and employees' representatives was discussed, and, as it was contended the agreement was a Dominion matter a' resolution was passed to the effect that a ballot of all members of unions affiliated to the ,New Zealand Waterside Wprkers' Federation be taken on Monday and Tuesday next on the question of whether the. agreement be rejected or accepted. The ballot will apply to some 5000 or 6000 members. Further, even admitting that Noolces had committed -a technical breaiSi of the War Regulations, his offence was not nearly so serious as similar cases at A ackland and other parts of the Dominion for which small fines were imposed. We therefore ask tKe Governor to review the sentence and issue a free pardon to Oliver Noakes." i A further resolution was also adopted sympathising with the coal miners of New Zealand, who it was contended were fighting a righteous fight and for a righteous principle, and urging that the Military Service "Act be repealed.
