CANOPUS AND JUBILEE After considerable delay the Canopus, with tha bulk Jubilee in tow, left Wellington at 10.45 o'clock this morning on the long tow of 550 miles to Auckland. It will be remembered that the two vessels set out some weeks ago on the journey, but were force* to put back owing to a leak having started in the Jubilee. The hulk has now been repaired throughout. At 12 o'clock to-day the two boats passed ont through the Heads
Messrs. Levin and Co. advise that the departure of the Earawa from New Plymouth for Onehunga has been postponed till to-nigbt. The vessel is to leave Onehunga on the return trip on Monday night instead of on Tuesday night ;
The employees in Messrs. Oppenheimer's Petone works have decided to forego their annual picnic, and donate the sum nsually spent thereon (£10) to the Hutt Valley Motor Ambulance Fund.
It is notified in last night's Gazette that a portion of Waripori-street, Wellington, is exempted from the streetwidening sections of the Public Works Act.
