The A.J.C. Autumn Meeting will be concluded to-morrow. The principal event is the A.J.C. Plate, three miles.
The time put up by: Kilboy in the Great Autumn Handicap, 2rnin 33 2-ssec, is a record' for the race. The previous best was 2min 33 3-ssec, by Warstep two years ago. The weight, carried by Kilboy (8.1Q) is with one exception the heaviest ever carried by a'three-year-old in the race. When Merrie England won, he carried 9.1. v ,
Wellington owners were' among the purchasers at the Warririgton ■ Stud' Sale at Chrisfcchurch on-Tuesday. Mr. George Nash purchased the chestnut mare Rubelite- (Lord Roslyn—Tournament), with filly by Sarto, and served by the same horse, for 46 ' guineas. Mr. " Lance Wood" secured the bay.mare Similette, by Simdle—La Reine (St. Clair—Lady Gertrude), with filly foal by Sarto, and served by the same horse, for 43 guineas. . ■ I ' .'.-.'■ The Masterton Racing Club made a profit of £501 over its recent meeting. The taxes paid amounted to £1527. The sum of £250 was voted to the new Soldiers' Club' at Featherston. Three four-year-old ' Bezonians , that have put up a good winning record this season are Bisogne, Lightning, and Waimatao. Between them they haye won seventeen races, and nearly, 3700 soys in stakes. ' ■ ' ■■.•■. Mr. E. E. D. Clarke has won the last three Ascot Vale Stakes with three of the progeny of The Welkin'that he bred himself. The winners were Two (same age as Three), Deneb, and Thrice (full-sister and brother to Mr. R. Buick's horse). R. Lewis rode the three winners. R. D. O'Donnell came down from Auckland yesterday with the members of Mr. G. L. Stead's team that competed at Ellerslie, and went out to Trentham.
Wild Pilgrim was the most consistent performer at the PAverton Meeting. He won a double the first)day and ran two seconds on the concluding day. He is an aged gelding by Pilgrim's Progress, and must be the last of the .progeny of the Isonomy horse racing. G. Price came up from South yesterday, and went on to Awapuni. He took Panmure with him. The' English horse will not race at Trentham. Nyatad and Mediator will fulfil their engagements there. ;
The owner of'one horse at the Wairarapa_ offered his thoroughbred to the rider in the event of his •winning. The rider made every post a winning one, and reached the judge first. The owner was quite agreeable to hand over the present, which the rider did not accept, but compromised with a couple of ■sovereigns. ■ Bezmar^ who dead-heated with Dungannon. in the Maiden Plate at Avondale, is engaged in the Muritai Handicap on the second day of the Wellington Meeting. He >vas bred in Marlborough, by Bezonian—Marstone (Hillstone —Martha) and is half-brother to Amberstone, who was burned in a fire at' Beefton a few. years back. Bezmar had earlier in the season been placed at Wadpa, Thames, Eotorua, Te Aroha, and Ohinemuri (twice).
Dr. A. W. Beveridge won at Ellerslie with Cardrona and l at ' Avondale with Princess Bee. This pair.have improved since they contested the Maiden; Plate, at Daimevirke six weeks back. Cardrona has won five races, besides being placed twice.- Princess Bee was placed on both, days at ffakapuna; She is a bay filly by Hymettus—Derelict, and is a iull-sister to Hymettius and Hyla.
Antiope, winner of the Kumara Handicap, was the least fancied of eight runners. She is one of Mr. T. Sheenan's breeding, by Stronghold—Antigone (by Saracen— Psyche), dam of Hesione, by Pallas. ;.
J. M'Cracken came up from South yesterday and went- through to Hastings with Croesus, who may therefore Joe considered An unlikely starter at Trenthara. '

E. George came on to Trentham with the New Plymouth pair early in the week. They will race here and at Awapuni before returning home. In yesterday's issue the writer mentioned the performances of Art.at Ric-. carton. There is a high class hurdler racing at Randwick this season named Jack Rice, by imported Bice (St. SerfWedding Bell). - At the A.J.C. Spring Meeting he won the First Hurdles, two miles, carrying 12.5, and the Second Hurdles, two miles and a-half, carrying 13.2. At Randwick this week he won the First Hurdles, carrying 13.9, and in the Second Hurdles, in heavy going, ran second to Quirindi, in receipt of over half a hundredweight
H. Teltord returned' from Auckland this morning with Devotion. 0. Scott, El Gallo's pilot, rode the winners of the Hurdle Race and Steeplechase at Avondale. The members of J. W. Lowe's team which competed at Ellerslie returned to Trentham yesterday. Colonel Soult has not raced much this season, although he had an. unsuccessful trip to Wanganw. The. Colonel scored his first win ithis season at Avondale in the Clip. At the Auckland Spring Meeting he won- the King Edward Memorial Handicap, and at the Summer Meeting dead-heated in the Grandstand Handicap. The Avondale Handicap win brings him up to the 2000 soys mark for this season. Prince Viridis, winner of the Easter States at Kandwiek, is one of ' Mr. J. Baron's" youngsters. He is one of the first batch" of the progeny of Prince Foote, from imported La Crosse, by Ladas—Lucy Cross,, by St. Simon. MrJohn Brown owned Sir Foote, and used his sons Lord Foote,. Duke Foate, and Prince Foote at the stud. He has a Beautiful collection of English mares. Mr. William Brown owns Tressady and Duke of Melton, and also owns a lot of high-class English mares, i including tlie dams of Thana, Colbeck, and Tressida. He bred the three., performers named. They belong to the first batch of the progeny of. Tressady (Persimmon —Simplify). Eight of the first batch of Tresßady's progeny were sent up for Sale as yearlings, and average* 182 gns. The Great Northern Oaks winner was the cheapest lot, Mr. J. M'Leod getting her for 95 gns. The Sydney yearling sales will be concluded to-day. On Tuesday top price .was given fo"r a bay colt by Lmacre— Mitraille) brod by Messrs. A. W. Thompson and Widden. Mitraille is by Graf ton— Fucile, by Projectile—Hirondelle, by Lochiel—Vitesse, by Kooder— IConstance, by Cheddat—Barbara, by Barbarian— Adeline. During the few seasons he has been at the stud Linacre's stock have won over ,£54,000. Daughters of Grafton have been very successful, having P r°' duced, Cadonia, Cider, Cagou, Brattle, Scotch Artillery, Onazer, and other good winners. ; . -.
