Of 86,900 bales catalogued at the current sales tho Government withdrew 23,000, -while 55,000 were sold to the Home market, 2000 to the Continent, and 5000 to the United States. The latter's entry into the war is likely to cause a large demand either in Australia or London. The best combing merinos advanced to-day, others made full rates; best scoureds further appreciated; lambs sold often at above February rates. The sraallness of America's purchases was apparently due to the prices being too high, and because direct Australian shipments are permitted. ] The Government is acquiring the new Eng-j jlish wool clip at above the 1914 July rates: I KTJBBEIt.
